With right?, Banu Cennetoğlu presents the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in bouquets of gold letter balloons in Kanal’s showroom. Each bundle represents one of the 30 articles of the Declaration. Proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in Paris on 10 December 1948, three years after the end of the Second World War, the UDHR sets out, for the first time, the fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Translated into over 500 languages, it is one of the most widely circulated documents in existence. But what do these rights really mean in a world where they are still and persistently violated?    For Kanal’s opening, the artist – who lives and works in Istanbul – presents all 30 articles together for the very first time.
