Lee-Bauwens Gallery presents The Ordinary Infinite, its fourth exhibition devoted to the Italian artist Paola Pezzi. Since the late 1980s, Paola Pezzi has transformed humble materials, such as felt, rubber, pencils and spools of thread, into spirals, discs and spheres that evoke miniature galaxies. Every fold and every twist keeps the trace of the hand that shaped it. The critic Alberto Mattia Martini speaks of a "domestic cosmogony", in which the infinite resides in the most ordinary objects. Drawing on the legacy of Arte Povera, Paola Pezzi presents her recent works, pared-down forms that seem to grow like living organisms.
